5 Eyeliner Mistakes You Had No Idea You Were Making
If you’re like any girl on this planet and quiver at the thought of applying eyeliner, then you need to know some basic tips and tricks on how to apply your eyeliner perfectly from the first time. So, here are 5 common eyeliner mistakes you probably do without even realizing it.
Mistake #1: Applying eyeliner without providing a smooth base with a makeup primer.
As much as we like to think it is, primer is actually not just a money making scheme.Primer prepares your skin for the makeup application by filling in fine lines and smoothing pores. It ensures your gorgeous makeup looks fresh all day.Taking just a few minutes to add it to your makeup routine can make a world of difference.
Apply the primer to the center of your face and use gentle, circular motions to blend it outwards. Do not forget to concentrate on your eyes by applying just enough primer on your eyelids with gentle movements. Not using a primer before you put your eyeliner on is definitely not a good idea, so make sure you invest in a nice primer to prepare your skin for the makeup application.
Mistake #2: Looking like a panda.
Unless you deliberately want to look like a raccoon or a panda, lining your entire eye with eyeliner is definitely not a good idea. Stop making this horrible mistake. Apply the eyeliner only on one side of your eye.
Mistake #3: Not using Scotch tape for your eyeliner wing.
Putting Scotch tape on your eyelid sounds a little crazy but this simple trick is going to take your eyeliner game to the next level! Use two pieces of Scotch tape to create a triangle at the outer corner of your eye, angling them towards the end of your eyebrow. Then, apply your eyeliner as usual. Using the tape like a straight-edged ruler, continue drawing your line along the tape past the outer corner. Finally, remove the scotch tape pieces and reveal your masterpiece! Now all you need to do is marvel at your perfectly created winged eyeliner!
Mistake #4: Not curling your eyelashes after applying eyeliner.
One thing you need to remember after applying eyeliner is to curl your eyelashes for a fabulous makeup finish. With that said, feel free to put on your eyeshadow prior to curling your lashes.
Mistake #5: Do not forget to tight line your eyeliner.
“Tightlining,” or applying eyeliner to the innermost part of your eyelid, will help your eyeliner look not only glamorous but also super professional. In order to tight line your eyes, simply stand in front of a mirror and hold your upper eyelid in place. Start by placing your eyeliner vertically on the outer corner of your waterline and use your eye pencil to outline it. As a final step, do not forget to nicely fill in the spaces between your lashes.
